Hey, so it says no careers until the 3rd generation. Does this include spouses that are brought into the family? [I figured they couldn't work, but thought I'd ask since technically they would have papers. ]
Hi Derek, no family members are allowed to work until generation 3 that includes spouses and teens. That's what makes the challenge so difficult. Hope you have fun playing Happy Simming :-)
Is writing allowed as money making (with publishing)?
Yes writing and earning money via publishing books is allowed as long as your Sim doesn't enter into any careers. Same goes with painting and crafting.
Guess I should have looked here first. :)
I asked on the forum thread about careers. The rules appear contradictory (or I read them wrong). Was not sure is careers were allowed starting with the 3rd or the 4th generation. Also noticed you have Orion Fortuna in your gallery. Was wondering if I could "borrow" him to get a head start since he is already impregnated.
I answered on the forum. but i'll give a brief answer here too. Careers start with any/all members of generation 3. I am Happy for you to use Orion or Anaya as they were created for this challenge
I really wanted to use Orion to start this challenge. But as I posted in the main forum I discovered he already had gained extra traits. The game also remembered his past progress in several Aspirations. I decided to still use his Son but in a slightly different way. I put pregnant Orion into a home and let him stay there until he gave birth. He bonded with baby Orson then aged him into a child. Before Orson gained any skills etc I used a Birthday Cake to make him a Teen. Once that step was completed I went into Manage World. I restyled Orson and gave him some new outfits in his Alien form. Then I deleted Orion from that household and uploaded Teenager Orson as a single Sim household. Viola! Orson now lives in a totally different save on his own. Since he is a Teen there is school to consider. I am using the 1st three vacation days to allow for collecting etc.
I will keep you posted on his progress. Thank you for a very interesting challenge and a fabulous Sim to get started.
"You may not change a Sim’s current aspiration. The exception is when they fully complete an aspiration. When that happens, you may choose their new aspiration, as long as it is not one they’ve already completed." In the case of Aspirations requiring Jobs. Since the Founder cannot work some Aspirations cannot be completed. For Orson my plan is to keep in the Knowledge category until he can go no further. Are there any points for partial completion of Aspirations? [PS: For the record I usually lose track of points :P but for the sake of this challenge will try to keep up.]
I have made a slight change to the rules that only the founder can change his/her aspirations. at anytime or just when he/she hits an impossible road block such as needing a job to complete it.
Also just to let you know I will be removing/replacing Orion as the premade founder. :-)
What is the lot's name? I can't find it anywhere! Please help me with the name of it so I can start the challenge! :)

you said in the rules that the first and second gen cant have careers, does this include the spouses? because my founder married someone who already has a job
Hi Ali, No family members are allowed to work until generation 3 that includes SPOUSES and teens. That's what makes the challenge so difficult. If your sim marries a sim with a job they should quit the job.
Hope you have fun playing Happy Simming :-)
How much money do we start with?
Sorry it's taken me so long to reply for some reason i'm not getting notifications. Anyway After placing the lot/items required you reduce your funds to £300. So £300 is your starting amount.
I was wondering if the 'off the grid' counted towards clubs also? Like, could my sim join a club?
Off the grid applies to things where government records would be kept for example working and hospital treatment. Clubs are fine as they are just for fun. Yes your sims may join clubs.
No careers until 3rd generation. Does this include the founder when counting generations? In other words, can the founder's grandchild get a career, or are we supposed to wait until the great-grandchild becomes a Young Adult? Thanks!
Hey, so I'm using painting to make some money for my first generation. Am I allowed to hire an agent, or is that too 'on the grid'?
